HIRE ME!

For a condensed version…see my resume.

An open letter to non-profit organizations and education institutions:

I  earned a Master of Science in Education. The degree also includes a graduate certificate in Online Teaching and Learning. It means that I have the capacity to build rigorous educational courses grounded in solid pedagogy and instructional design.

I am pretty versatile. I did tours of the Exlporatorium as an “emerging adult.” This included all of the pathways of instruction in: Light, Sound, and Electromagnetism. In addition to rote instruction, I also gave demonstrations in physical science such as the Tesla coil, the LASER demonstration, and the Cow’s eye dissection just to name a few.

I also worked at the YMCA from 1988-1995 doing various jobs in teaching, leadership and recreation. These skills went from being a counselor, to head counselor, to Camp Director then Site Director for the Youth and Family department before I left in 1995 to finish my education. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and the majority of my general education requirements were done through the school of Ethnic Studies. So I am extremely culturally literate with respect to the diversity that is present on any k-12 school, college campus or non-profit organization.

My life’s mission is to get our shared community as educated and prepared as possible to meet the growing challenges and shrinking opportunities in the “new” emerging global economy. I also want to do assessment and surveys with all the stakeholders in institutions that provide training or education for its participants. I believe that the loop of assessment and modifications to course work  and training material evolves the work in a manner that gives all participants a sense of ownership and develops community cohesion.

Wherever I land, I definitely want to apply the best models of teaching and learning as a project or program director, counselor, advisor or Instructor.

I am good with helping students of all ages get the resources they need to succeed; I am well versed on the Rehabilitation act of 1973 and the subsequent Sections 504 and 508. Knowledge such as this make me a good educator, great advisor and a compassionate and supportive community builder.
